A Season Finale “Zack” Lash?

When “Bones” aired its finale Monday night, apparently not only did it get the fans talking, it got them screaming.  They were furious that Zack Addy was the Goromogon apprentice. They’ve done everything from label the episode incongruent to inconsistent to illogical and more ‘I’ words that all add up to one thing for the producers: “the fans are talking about it.”The writer’s strike really hurt series television this season, causing some storylines to be dropped and others to be cut off in the middle or to fall short. Heroes, for example, which promised 26 episodes originally abbreviated at just 13, leaving fans to wait 9 months to see what happens next.

“Bones” had a storyline that should have spanned the whole season, but lost several episodes worth of story to the strike. Zack returned from Iraq in the season opener, but exploring the psychological effects on him was unfortunately not filled in due to the abbreviation of the season.
That said, some shows came back from the strike stronger, packing more emotional punches and delivering. Off the top of my head “House” and “Grey’s Anatomy” are just two shows that were even better post-strike than they were pre-strike.  I know a lot of fans weren’t keen on having the three ducklings replaced, but after the season of Tritter (ugh), this last year has been a gift. The season finale of House was really difficult and thanks to DVR, I just got to watch it yesterday, so I’ll be posting comments on that tomorrow when I won’t be sniffling my way through it.

Grey’s Anatomy airs the 2 hour season finale Thursday night and if it remains true to form for the last few episodes, it will definitely be must-see T.V. Yes, summer is here and the finale season is almost over. But with just a little over a 100 days to the start of the next season, I have to admit – I can hardly wait.  In the meanwhile, check out the Hart Hanson interview over at TV Guide where he addresses fans concerns about Zack and the season finale.
